Loyall A. (Tinner) Newell, Sr., 85, died Saturday, Feb. 24, 1990, at Medicalodge.

He was born May 31, 1904, at Idana, the son of Francis and Zilpha Poots Newell.

Mr. Newell graduated from Clifton High School in 1921. He was married to Sarah Hammer, she died in 1926. He then married Bertha Swoboda, Jan. 1929. She survives.

Loyall worked for W. W. Smith and Sons in Clay Center as a mechanic.

He was preceded in death by a daughter Zola in 1956.

Survivors include a son, Loyall Jr., and wife Darlyene of Clay Center; a daughter, Barbara and husband of Clay Center; one brother, E. L. Newell of Clifton; two sisters, Lois Swaverly of Topeka, Leola Rains of Horseshoe Bend, Ark.; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28 in Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Brian Johnson officiating.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. Tuesday at Neill-Schwensen Funeral Home.
