Dr. Roy O. Swoboda, 58, 1628 S.E. 38th, Topeka, died Saturday at his office.
He was born January 12, 1925 at Morganville, the son of George H. and Oneitta Pereault Swoboda.
Dr. Swoboda was graduated from Lincoln Chiropractic College, Indianapolis, in May 1954. He was a Topeka chiropractor for 29 years and most recently worked at Counselman Chiropractic Clinic. He was a charter member of the American Chiropractic Association and a member of the Kansas Chiropractic Association. He served on the KCA board of directors from 1966 to 1977.
He served with the U.S. Marines in the South Pacific during World War II.
Dr. Swoboda was also a 28-year member of the Amateur Softball Umpires Association. He was recognized nationally with assignments to national softball tournaments in 1972, 1974, 1975 and 1978. He also officiated at baseball and volleyball games.
He married Maydean Knoettgen, Jan. 19, 1945 at San Diego, Ca.
The survivors are his wife, Mrs. Maydean Knoettgen, a daughter, Deidre Michael, Silver Lake; three sons, Tegan Swoboda, Topeka; Seth Swoboda, Wichita; and Shad Swoboda, Topeka; his mother, Oneita Swoboda, Topeka; a sister, Phyllis Parsons, Danvers, Mass.; a step-mother, Dorothy Sharp, St. Petersburg, Fl. and a granddaughter, Megan Michael, Silver Lake.
Services will be at 10 A.M. Tuesday in the Church of Assumption, Topeka. Burial will in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Topeka.
