Elaine M. Faith
Elaine Mae Faith, 79, of Manhattan, died Tuesday, May 24, at Stormont-Vail in Topeka.
Mrs. Faith was born May 29, 1925 in Cleburne. Her parents Fred and Marie Musil ran a cafe there and offered boarding services to local teachers. With the Tuttle Creek Project the family moved to Manhattan and bought a local grocery store. She transferred to Manhattan High School during her senior year and graduated in 1943. She continued her education at Kansas State University, earning her degree in home economics in 1947.
Upon graduation she accepted a teaching position in Soldier. The following year she returned to Manhattan and married Bill Faith, a man she met while attending Kansas State. The couple made the decision to start their own business and established Faith Furniture in 1952.
Mrs. Faith was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Other memberships included the Harmony Rebekah Lodge #689, the V.F.W. Auxiliary, the American Association of University Women and the Christian Women's Association.
Over the years, three children joined the family, Steven Faith of Manhattan, Coleen Faith Wallace and her husband Chuck of Emporia, and Randall Faith and his wife Lindy of Manhattan. The family grew to include four grandchildren: Andrea Kratochvil and her husband Mike of Manhattan, B.J. Wallace of Emporia, Travis Faith and his wife Krista of Manhattan, and Sarah Wallace of Las Vegas, NV.
Bill, her husband of 56 years, resides at their home in Manhattan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Marie Musil, a sister, Betty Jean, and a brother Lyle.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Sunrise Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home.
