Alma B. Rigel - Obituary
Alma B. Rigel, 80, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday morning, May 11, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 16, at Anderson Cemetery, Swisher, by the Rev. Renee' Lunemann. Brosh Chapel, Cedar Rapids, is in charge of arrangements.
She was born Feb. 18, 1925, in rural Fairfax, the daughter of Milo and Emily (Pirkl) Cech. She attended Cloud School and Walford High School. She married Donald Rigel on Nov. 24, 1948, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids. Alma was a homemaker, caring for her home and family.
Survivors include her children, Carl (Pamela) Rigel of Grand Terrace, Calif., Doris (Mark) Sickles of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Brian (Renee) Rigel of Loganville, Ga.; grandchildren, Shawn (Angelia) Rigel of Cedar Rapids, Kelly (Brian) Gearheart of Cedar Rapids, Braden Sickles of Fort Hood, Texas, Taryn Sickles of Lawrenceville, Ga., Andrew Rigel of Cedar Rapids, Kristen Rigel of Lisbon and Christopher Rigel of Loganville, Ga.; great-granddaughter, Britany Gearheart; a brother, Dennis (Mary) Cech of Cedar Rapids; a niece, Denise (Jeff) McAllister of Cedar Rapids; and a nephew, Dean (Kathy) Cech of Solon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; and son, Wayne.
A memorial fund has been established for the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library, 30 16th Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404.
