School Day Memories
This school was located 7 miles south and 1 mile east of Blue Rapids. We had to walk 1 1/2 miles to and from the school, regardless of the weather. Our home (the Fred Smerchek place) was located straight north of the school. Dirt road. We had no bus to take us and we had to carry our own lunch bucket. Mother would not make us a lunch in a brown paper bag. She used them for something else. Paper bags cost too much. The school isn't there any more. It is just a wheat field, like our old home.
